Banner Sign installation techniques
Banner sign installation techniques shared by our
sign installation team.
Once you have purchased your banner and it has
arrived at your location, you will be ready to begin the
installation process. As we mentioned in our article on “Finding the
Perfect Location for Your Banner,” you will need to first focus on
where you will hang your banner before you focus on how you will
hang it. Once you have found the perfect location, you're ready to
move on to the next step.
Your location should not only be visible, but it should provide you
with a way to easily affix the banner to its surface. Whether you
plan to permanently install your banner or you plan on a temporary
installation, this is a very important factor. You will need to make
sure that you can either drill holes to fasten the banner, or that
there are places to tie off a rope if you plan to use this method
for installation.
Here are some helpful tips for correctly installing your banner
1. Permanent Installation Technique
Equipment suggestions:
Battery Drill, screws, washers, bubble level or trades level.
IF you use our permanent
banner sign install techniques, your sign should will be outside for
more than 3 years.
This technique will require a solid surface that is acceptable for
drilling. If your surface cannot support drilling, you will need to
move to our Temporary Installation Technique Below.
Here’s what you’ll need: One drill, one bit suitable for the surface
(ie: masonry bit, wood bit, etc…) screws and washers.
First, line up and measure where you intend to hang your banner.
Check your sign is level and place a hole ready for your screw. Our
banner signs come with eyelets that are spaced apart. Hold the
banner in place and mark where the eyelets will be. Unroll the
banner and begin to drill, using your eyelet marks as a guide.
Once you have completed all of your hole, take your first washer and
place it over the in the surface you just drilled, over the banner's
eyelet. Insert your first screw. Repeat this process until the
entire banner has been affixed to the surface. Occassionaly check
your banner sign is level.
Repeat the steps top and bottom of your banner sign
across the length of your banner sign material.
2. Temporary Installation Technique
This technique is useful if you need to move your banner frequently,
or if you cannot find a surface that is appropriate for a permanent
installation of your banner.
Here’s what you’ll need: A suitable tying point for the ropes that
are sewn into the banner. All our banner signs are sewn with 5mm
Nylon Poly ropes along the length of the banner sign. This give the
overall banner greater strength.
Also, sections where we press the eyelets are
'triangle' capped to give further strength for fixing.
Tie your banner to a suitable pole, post, eye ring or
other. We also can supply springs, rubber ropes or toggles to help
your installation. Just let us know.
Below: These
banner sign accessories are readily available from hardware stores
such as Mitre10,
True Value,
Bunnings
and Thrifty Link. Most
local hardware store owners stock these items, as well as camping
and outdoor stores. Each may have their own products.

Even though
our banners are made of superior products, you will still need to
make sure that you are taking proper care of your new banner. This
will ensure that your banner will have a long life. Here are some
helpful tips on extending the life of your banner.
1. All our banner materials are UV stabilized and achieve a blue
wool scale 5. If you banner sign is directly in sunshine, allow for
expansion and contraction as the banner sign heats and cools. This
is a natural element, and pre-thought when installing is important.
2. Keep it clean. If your banner is in an area that produces dirt,
it is important to keep it as clean as possible. By periodically
cleaning your banner, you can reduce the effects that normal
pollutants and materials can have on sign.
A simple, gentle dish soap or even just water will provide you with
a way to wash away this road grime or debris. Frequently cleaning can also reduce
problems that arise when a banner is partially obscured by dirt.
ALSO, CUSTOMERS WILL NOT BE IMPRESSED WITH A DIRTY SIGN, IT CREATES
A POOR IMPRESSION.
3. If high winds are predicted in your area, you may want to
consider taking your banner down temporarily. Banner signs are
flexible in nature, however, if you are aware of cyclonic conditions
it may be wiser to remove any signage pre storm, gale or strong
wind. It is very important to secure your banner in a way that will
reduce flapping in the wind. If you cannot permanently affix your
banner safely, removing it in high winds may be necessary.
Make sure that you keep the eyelets of your banner in good condition
to reduce the effects of wind. Reduce any effects of external
elements before they have an effect on your signage by taking
measures ahead of time to make sure your signage stays safe.
4. Keep it safe from vandals. If your business is located in an area
that is frequently defaced, you may want to try hanging your banner
during business owners and removing it after you close. This does
add-up to extra work, but if businesses in the area are frequently
replacing their signs, this extra work may add up to extra savings.
Signage is important to a
business, if your signage is under attack, consider the following.
1. Place above human height.
2. Remove after hours. This can be done easily with our banner track
options.
3. Deter vandals with night reflective 'Video surveillance' stickers
and decals.

Finding the
perfect location & view for your banner sign.

When installing a banner sign in .au, consider the best possible
view... from the approaching reader.
If you have decided to purchase a banner, it is very
important to place your new banner is a position that will present
your message and your company the most good. By selecting the proper
location, viewing angle of height, you can ensure that your new
purchase will perform beyond expectations and that it will be able
to function to the utmost. Banner signs are a cheap sign... but...
importantly... possibly your most effective business marketing.
“Location, location, location,” applies to more
than real estate. When you are hanging a banner, this is the most
important factor. Here are some useful tips to help you find the
best location for your banner.
DESIGN TIP: KEEP YOUR MESSAGE CLEAR, QUICK AND
IMPORTANT.
1. Make it Visible – Placing a banner on the wrong side of your
building or under an overhang can greatly reduce the ability of
potential customers to see this banner. You will need to make sure
that your banner is located where it can be easily seen from the
majority of directions and angles.
2. Stand back and be the reader – Before you finalize your banner's position, try
viewing the banner sign in several different angles and positions. Then, place yourself in your
customer's position. Is it visible from the road, sitting in a car?
Can it be easily seen from across the street in multiple directions?
You will need to find the one location that provides the most
visibility. Take some time with this step to make sure that your
final location is the right location.
3. Remember the Elements – Weather can be detrimental to your new
banner. If it is not secure properly, your banner may flap in the
wind, making it difficult to read by passing pedestrians and
vehicles.
4. Update your message. Above, a brief description of the
Keder installation system is discussed. This is particularly useful
for updating your banner sign messages easily.
All marketing requires updating and modernisation.
Use your banner signs to convey messages suited to your promotional
activities.
By following these steps, you will be able to get the most out of
your banner signage, both in actual life of the banner and
effectiveness in getting your message across.

Storing your banner sign.
Do not fold your banner sign. It is better to roll
your banner sign around a pole or cardboard tube. Avoid creating
creases in your signage by always rolling up your banner signage.
Keep your banner sign dry and away from moisture, in the same manner
as you would store your camping equipment.
